Are Jacuzzis And Hot Tubs Different?

Strictly speaking, when used in regular daily vocabulary, most people do not recognize or distinguish between a Jacuzzi and a hot tub because both terms refer to a tub of hot water that produces bubbles and a strong movement of water. Also, they both offer many benefits, including those of pleasure and of therapy and rehabilitation.

Jacuzzi refers to a brand name and therefore only applies to those mechanisms and appliances that have been produced and manufactured by that specific company. The company Jacuzzi was started by a pair of Italian brothers who moved to California in the early 1900's. They were inventors by profession and used their study and understanding of hydraulics to create many products, one of them being what is now known as the Jacuzzi.

The original model was a whirlpool spa which was made first in 1968 and it was immediately popular which is why today the name is practically one and the same as the actual invention. The original version was first named the "Roman Bathtub" and was made of a combination of 50% water and 50% air and quickly became admired and famous because such a product had never been seen before. With time and effort, the Jacuzzi became more and more advanced. Slowly, it became larger in size and offered more features, including a filter system and a heating mechanism. So began the now popular industry of spas and hot tubs.

Even for laymen and in the basic vernacular, the difference between a hot tub and a Jacuzzi may be that the hot tub doesn't have as many jets as the Jacuzzi and is slightly less powerful. In such cases, hot tubs can simply refer to those tubs that just contain hot water. However, when thought of today, the term hot tub generally brings to mind the wooden tubs in the shape of a barrel, many forms of which are in use today. Professionally speaking, by those who are part of the business, this difference is not supported. Generally speaking, even those who are involved in the business will admit that there is pretty much no difference between the two. It is not uncommon to hear the word Jacuzzi hot tub being spoken by manufacturers or merchants of hot tubs.

The company known as Jacuzzi manufacturers many more products today than just hot tubs. They are known for their sinks, bathroom accessories, baths, showers, and toilets many of which can be seen in hotel rooms and homes around the worlds, as well as even on ships and yachts. They can be found all around the world and are offered for sale in over 60 countries. What began as a small family invention has now become perhaps the most famous name in hot tubs.
