Hot Tub Repair - Either Do It Yourself Or Hire A Professional

Understandably, because there are various mechanisms and parts that are working together to allow for the hot tub to perform its functions effectively, there are times that the parts will wear down and fall into disrepair. Other times, the hot tub will stop working because some of its mechanisms have broken. Whatever the case, if the hot tub spa no longer works properly, it must be fixed. Obviously, the type of hot tub repair that will be necessary will depend on the specifics of what is the cause of the hot tub's failure to work. There are also many ways to identify the problem and to find out what needs to be repaired.

Some people may attempt to fix the hot tub on their own without calling a technician and there is nothing wrong with this. Sometimes the repairs can be quite simple, however it is important to bear in mind that some of the repairs may involve electricity and the hot tub has water and that combination can be very dangerous if one is not skilled in the precautions that are necessary. Therefore, it is advised that one call an electrician or a special spa technician if one is not completely certain that they know what they are doing. It is not worth the risk. However, regardless of who is doing the repairs, all the electricity directed towards the hot tub should be shut off before attempting to conduct the repairs.

Some of the diagnosing of the problems of a hot tub can be done by a novice and there are some basic steps that can be taken to try to mend the issue. If these tips aren't working, then the problem may be more serious and a technician should be consulted. For example, if the hot tub is not running doesn't work, the associated parts that may be the cause can be the high-limit switch, the fuse, or the wiring. If it is able to run but the water is not being heated or is not being heated enough, it may be due to the heater element, the filter cartridge, the pressure switch, the flow switch, the thermostats, the spa side control, or the heater contactor. Similar hot tub parts may be the culprit if the water is being heated to a temperature that is too hot.

Sometimes the problems that need to be repaired are cracks or blisters on the sides of the hot tub. If the issue is a crack, there are several kits and tools that can be purchased at a spa supply store and they can easily help repair the crack. This isn't generally dangerous and does not need to be done by a professional.

Another issue that can be done by the spa owner is the repair of blisters which are small bubbles that can appear on the hot tub itself. This can be remedied by heating the blister with the use of a blow dryer. When the blister is sufficiently hot that it becomes malleable, a small pin should be pricked into the blister and that will allow the air out. Once the air is out and the blister is still warm, it should be smoothed down with a finger to allow it to adhere properly to the hot tub.
